International Scholar Sponsorship

We need your help and support from your institution to sponsor an International Scholar from the developing world to attend the International Assembly for Pediatric Anesthesia (IAPA).

Specifically, we would like your commitment of $2,500(U.S) to sponsor at least one young anesthesiologist who is working in a resource poor nation. The learning and friendship during the IAPA meeting will prove invaluable in supporting these future leaders in anesthesia.

Scholarship applicant must be:

  • from a developing country as recognized by the WHO
  • preference for those within 10 years of completing training
  • engaged in teaching and training of anesthesiology providers who spend a significant portion of their practice caring for children
  • submitting a poster or presentation to the International Assembly

In addition to the $2,500(U.S.) scholarship award to offset a portion of the candidate's travel expenses, the selected International Scholars will receive:

  • Complimentary registration for the International Assembly for Pediatric Anesthesia
  • Complimentary registration for the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) Annual Meeting
  • Invitation to the IAPA Faculty/VIP dinner - Thursday, October 11, 2012
  • Reception at the National Zoo - Friday, October 12, 2012

Many programs are also planning to host their sponsored scholar at their home center either immediately prior to or following the IAPA meeting. The sponsoring center would be responsible for the scholar's expenses for the duration of the stay in their home center.

If you are interested in sponsoring a scholar(s), please fill out the form below or contact Kim Battle, SPA Association Manager, at kim@societyhq.com or 804-565-6323.
